Danny is an extremely faithful man. Danny is a part of the Faith Builders International Ministry in Wisconsin. Danny took part in morning services in the Beloit locations and afternoon services at the Milwaukee location. It's good to have a contestant this year who stands for strong values.
Fun facts about Danny?
Danny also loves salsa and spanish music. When he's nervous he likes to chew gum and he does an awesome bird chirping imitation.
What About Danny Gokey's Foundation?
Danny also has set up a foundation in the memory of his wife. She died of a heart condition approximately one month before he auditioned for American Idol. The Sofia Heart Foundation, this foundation is in Nashville. His foundation reaches out to the lives of many children. According to the site his wife wanted a large family but wasn't able to have one in her lifetime. However, through his foundation he is working to take her love of children and to keep it going.
One of the first programs that they instituted was the music and arts program which gave free instruments to children. Danny's and his wife Sofia's love for music is now helping many children.

In a recent interview Danny said that he had talked with his wife earlier in the year about auditioning and that was really the whole purpose behind it.
