the three most popular singing competition shows

Every performer in his or her initial stages of singing yearns for that chance to be discovered. Earlier it was a bit difficult but now days the emergence of the singing competition shows has given the singers a chance to show their talent. These signing competition shows are much more popular than any other TV shows.

Here are the three most popular signing competition shows.

1. American Idol:

American Idol is not just one of the most popular signing contest shows but is also one of the most popular reality show concepts around the world. Its concept has been legally adapted by many countries to make their own singing competition shows.

The hugely popular singing contest started almost 7 years back in the year 2002. It was first premiered on the popular Fox network. The show now in its 6th season is a big enough proof, that its reality based singing contest has still what it takes to win the audience's heart.

The show's success is partly due to its three popular judges that sit on its judging panel. The judges are the well known Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. The show has Ryan Seacrest hosting it. It also allows the viewers to have some participation as it asks them to vote for the contestants.

2) Making the Band

Another popular singing contest is the show ‘Making the Band'. It does not focus on finding a talented individual but is targeted towards forming a band of talented individuals.

The show as premiered in the year 1999, almost 10 years back. It started out on the popular ABC network, but then it shifted to MTV. The show is currently running in its 4th season. The singing competition is getting really hard with every passing season. Its focus is to find some talented singers and combine them in a group to form a successful band. The show then selects a group and features it while it goes on tours, performs live and gives interviews.

The band O-Town was formed in the first season, with a total of 4 boys. The second season ended with the formation of Da Band, a hip hop group. It was in the third season that an all female band, Dainty Kane emerged out of the competition. Now the show's fourth season is again focused on finding an all male group.

3) Grease - You're The One That I Want!

Grease - You're The One That I Want is a popular singing contest on the NBC network. It features a lot of performers out of whom two will be chosen to perform as the leads in the Broadway production of the hit musical Grease. The musical is set to premier this year on Broadway

Like American Idol the show has three popular judges, David Ian, Jim Jacobs and Kathleen Marshall. Its host is Billy Bush and Denise Van Outen. In this format also the viewers have to vote in their choices every week.
